Macro shows an error, and the file used to be there
What you are seeing
The macro shows an error, and the file used to be there.
#Why it happens
The file was deleted or renamed, or the branch was renamed or removed. Because content is fetched live, this turns into an error card immediately.
#What to do
Re-pick the file through Browse GitHub, or update the branch.
#Settings involved
Setting | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
Hide GitHub across the whole site | App property `capable-global-hidden-capabilities`, object name `hiddenCapabilities`, value | Hides the capability tenant-wide. IMPORTANT: this gates the BYLINE ONLY. The macro module has no display conditions, so hiding the capability does not stop existing GitHub macros from rendering on pages. |
Turn GitHub on or off per space | Space property `<APP_HASH>_capable`, object name `capabilities.alwaysOff` / `capabilities. | AlwaysOff suppresses the byline in that space; alwaysOn shows it even on pages with no GitHub macro. Again, byline only. Macros still render. |
Unlicensed and anonymous access | Not user-configurable | Granted on the MACRO module only, for both 'unlicensed' and 'anonymous'. So a reader outside the licence, or logged out entirely, still sees public file content in the degraded read-only branch. But gets no "Github" byli |
#Limits that apply here
Limit | Value | What happens |

Public repository search: first page only | - | Search runs only when a query is typed and page === 1. Paging past page 1 shows only the person's own repositories. |
