Let readers download a PDF from a Confluence page
To let readers download a PDF from a Confluence page, open the PDF embed (Capable) macro's configuration and turn on Download. A Download button appears in the viewer's toolbar. In the same place, Popup adds Open in popup and Fullscreen adds a fullscreen button. All three are off until you turn them on.
#Before you start
You can edit the page.
The macro already has a PDF. The display options only appear once a file or link is set.
#Steps
Edit the page, select the PDF embed macro and open its configuration.
Turn on Download to let readers save the file.
Turn on Popup to let readers open the PDF in a larger window over the page.
Turn on Fullscreen to let readers fill the screen with it.
Close the configuration window and publish the page.
#What happens next
Each option adds one button to the toolbar at the top of the viewer. Pop-out and fullscreen open the same document with the same zoom and page controls.
Where the page is read | What carries over |
|---|---|
Confluence | All three buttons. |
A published Capable Site | Download carries over. Pop-out and fullscreen do not. See this troubleshooting page. |
Turning Download off removes the button, not the file. Anyone who can view an attached PDF can still download it from the page's attachments.
#If it does not work
You cannot see Download, Popup or Fullscreen in the configuration: set the PDF first. See this troubleshooting page.
Pop-out opens on a different page from the one you set: see this troubleshooting page.
