Frequently asked questions about migrating to Capable

Short answers to the questions that come up most during a migration, each with a link to the page that covers it properly.

#Safety

#Does a migration delete anything?

No. Every changed page gets a new version, so the previous version with the original macro stays in Confluence page history. See How a page is rewritten.

#Can I undo a migration?

Yes. Under Repair, upload the log from that run and use Roll back pages. Each page is restored to its version before the migration, as a new version. See Roll back a Confluence macro migration.

#Do I need to keep the old app installed?

Yes, until you have checked the result. The migration reads its content, and rolled-back macros only render while that app is installed. See Before you uninstall the old app.

#Running it

#Does a clean dry run prove my diagrams will migrate?

No. Verification uses a stand-in drawing for draw.io and never downloads the real file. A pilot run on one real space is what proves it. See Test a Confluence migration with a dry run.

#Where did my migration results go?

Results live in the browser tab and nowhere else. Press Download log as soon as a run finishes, before you navigate away, because repair and rollback need that file. See My results disappeared.

#Why is every count zero?

Your space filter was probably rejected rather than your site being clean. Use the form space = "KEY" or space in ("A","B"). See Narrowing what gets migrated.

#Why is the Unsupported count so large?

It counts do-nothing cases, such as macros with nothing to migrate, as well as genuinely unsupported macros. Macros failed is the number to read. See The Unsupported count is enormous.

#Why does every migrated page show its content twice?

The run kept the source macros. Re-run without that option, or delete the originals by hand. See Every migrated page shows its content twice.

#Why can I not find the Migration tab?

It is hidden in Capable apps that have nothing to migrate from. Open the migration assistant from Capable for Confluence to see the full catalogue. See I cannot find the Migration tab.

#Approvals

#Can I migrate approvals from AppFox?

Yes. Page approvals move with their status, approvers, history and expiry, without changing page content. Section approvals and the status macro are reported only. See Migrate Confluence approvals from AppFox.

#Can I move from standalone Capable Approval to the suite?

Yes. Freeze and export in Capable Approval, load the export in the suite, migrate the approval macros, then import. Approval history comes across in full. See Move approvals from standalone Capable Approval to the suite.
