Link Jira issues to Attio records with a Jira field

To link Jira issues to Attio records with a Jira field, choose Match a field on the project's Matching settings, pick the Jira field to read the customer from, and say whether it holds A name, A domain or An email address. This suits software and business projects, where whoever raised the issue works for you and the customer is typed into a field.

#Before you start

  • You are a project administrator and Attio is connected. See Connect Attio to a Jira project.

  • The project has a field that names the customer, such as a Customer or Account field, and your team fills it in consistently.

  • The Attio object has an attribute holding the same thing: a name, a domain or an email address.

#Steps

  1. Open the project's Project settings, Apps, Attio, and go to Matching.

  2. Choose Match a field, and confirm with Match a field instead if asked. This clears the record type and everything after it.

  3. Choose the Jira field to read the customer from.

  4. Under What that field holds, choose A name (like NVIDIA), A domain (like nvidia.com) or An email address.

  5. On Record type, choose the object the field names, such as Companies.

  6. Back on Matching, choose the Attribute to compare the field against, then choose the fields and save.

#What happens next

Each issue shows the record named in that field, whoever raised it. Matching on a field needs no reporter email address, so it works on issues with no reporter and needs no extra Jira permission. A name is compared exactly against a text attribute; a domain or full URL is reduced to its domain, and the project's ignored-domain list still applies.

#If it does not work

  • This project is pointed at a field Jira did not list: the field was deleted or is no longer available. Choose another.

  • No match for a name: the text must match the Attio attribute exactly. Try A domain if your team can type the customer's domain instead.

  • The field is empty on an issue: there is nothing to look up, so no record shows.

The customer your team named, not whoever raised the ticket.
