Show a public Power BI report in Confluence
To show a public Power BI report in Confluence, publish it with Publish to web (public) in Power BI and paste the resulting app.powerbi.com/view?r= link into the Power BI macro. Everyone who can open the Confluence page then sees the report, with no Power BI sign-in or licence. Only do this for data that is safe to be public.
#Before you start
Publish to web makes the report public on the internet. Anyone with the link can see it, and Microsoft does not restrict it to your Confluence readers. Never use it for confidential data.
Your Power BI administrator allows Publish to web in your tenant.
You can edit the Confluence page.
#Steps
In Power BI, open the report and choose File, Embed report, Publish to web (public).
Confirm, then copy the link it gives you.
Edit the Confluence page and paste the link on an empty line, or into Embed URL, iframe code, or report ID in the Power BI macro.
Set the Height so the whole report shows, and publish the page.
#What happens next
Every reader of the page sees the report, including Confluence users without a Capable licence and, on a public space, logged-out visitors. Changes you publish in Power BI appear on the page, usually within an hour, as Microsoft refreshes the public copy.
#If it does not work
Publish to web is missing: your Power BI administrator has turned it off. Use a secure link instead, and readers will need Power BI access.
Some readers still see a sign-in screen: the link is a secure
/reportEmbedlink, not the public/view?r=one.
