Embed a Power BI report in Confluence

To embed a Power BI report in Confluence, copy the report's embed link from Power BI and paste it on its own line in the Confluence editor: it turns into the Power BI macro. Or insert the macro and paste the link, the iframe code or the bare report ID into Embed URL, iframe code, or report ID. The report stays live and interactive.

#Before you start

You need

Why

Permission to edit the page

The macro is added in the editor.

An embed link from Power BI

Use Embed report in Power BI, not the address bar. See Get a Power BI embed link for Confluence.

Readers with access in Power BI

The macro never signs in to Power BI for anyone. Each reader sees the report only if Power BI lets them.

#Steps

  1. In Power BI, open the report and copy its embed link (for example from File, Embed report, Website or portal).

  2. Edit the Confluence page and paste the link on an empty line. It becomes the Power BI macro.

  3. If it stays a link, type /Power BI, choose Power BI, and paste the link, the iframe code or the report ID into Embed URL, iframe code, or report ID.

  4. Optionally set Width (default 100%) and Height (default 450px). The preview updates as you type.

  5. Publish the page.

#What happens next

The report appears in a frame on the page. Readers click once on it to start interacting, so that scrolling the page is not captured by the report. Filters, slicers and drill-downs work as they do in Power BI.

#If it does not work

The live report, right where the decision is written.
