Limits
Every limit here reports itself rather than failing silently. These are the numbers to plan around.
#Every limit
Limit | Value | What happens |
|---|---|---|
Allowed URL shapes | - | /view must carry an 'r' query parameter (secure report link). /reportEmbed must carry a 'reportId' query parameter (public report link). Anything deeper or differently shaped fails validation. |
Bare report ID format | - | A UUID is turned into https://app.powerbi.com/reportEmbed?reportId=<id>&autoAuth=true. It always targets app.powerbi.com, never Fabric. |
Default frame size | - | Matches the original Connect app's defaults. |
Minimum frame height | - | Enforced regardless of the configured height. |
Maximum frame width | - | A configured pixel width is capped at the column width. |
Scrolling | - | Power BI manages its own scrolling inside the frame, as it did in the original Connect app. |
Stored data | - | No credentials, no tokens, no cached report content. The embed address lives in the page itself. |
Confluence permissions requested | - | Read user, groups, content permissions, content (all and summary), space summary, search, content properties, and v2 page/blogpost read. No write, delete, email, or impersonation scopes. |
Licensing | - | The macro frame still renders for unlicensed and anonymous readers; whether they see the report depends entirely on Power BI's own access rules. |
#A few things worth knowing
A limit that is reached is reported in the interface, not in a log you have to find.
Limits are per site or per tenant depending on the limit. The table says which.
Edition can change some of these.
