Step-by-Step

The calendar feature is a useful tool that allows you to keep track of important dates mentioned in your pages. In this article, we will go over how to use the calendar and its various features.

1. Add Dates to Your Pages

The first step to using the calendar is to add dates to your pages. This can be done by simply typing // when creating or updating a page. This will automatically add the date to the page and it will appear on the calendar.

2. View Dates on the Calendar Dashboard

Once you have added dates to your pages, you can view them all on the calendar dashboard. This allows you to see all the important dates in one place and easily keep track of them.

2.1. Changing the view options

You can customize what events are shown in the calendar using the display panel:

  • Show events from pages which have dates in range

  • Show events from pages that you viewed recently

  • Show events from pages you were mentioned on recently

  • Show events on specific pages

2.2. View events shown in the calendar

See events being displayed in the calendar along with their title, assignee and type.

2.3. View Pages shown in the calendar

See which pages are being displayed in the calendar.

2.4. View options

Change how the calendar is displayed:

  • Show page titles

  • Show users

  • Color the events

    • By the page they are contained in

    • By the user assigned (mentioned) in the date

    • By the type (task, date, decision, etc.)

    • None - don't color the events

Using Macros to Show Important Dates

In addition to viewing dates on the calendar, you can also insert macros in your pages to show important dates. This is especially useful if you have multiple dates on a page and want to highlight the most important ones. The macro will display the date and any additional information you have added to it in the view mode of your choosing.

Adding Extra Information to Dates

Along with the date itself, you can also store extra information alongside it. This can be done by adding a title and a user mention. The title is required and will appear next to the date on the page. The user mention allows you to assign a user to the task and will also show up on the calendar.

To add this extra information, simply use the following format:

// [date] [title] @[user]

Storing Dates within Decisions or Inline Tasks

In addition to adding dates to pages, you can also store them within decisions or inline tasks. This allows you to add more data to the date, such as a description or a deadline. This can be especially useful for tasks that have a specific due date.

To add a date within a decision or inline task, simply use the same format as before:

// [date] [title] @[user]

Changing data scope

You can change the information displayed by clicking on the Scope menu and changing the current context.
