Content vs Templates

Learn how content and templates differ and how to create them.

Updated over a week ago

This article covers capabilities powered by Capable Assets:

  • Capable Markdown

  • Capable Diagrams

What is content?

Markdown and Diagrams are powerful tools that can be used to enhance your content on our platform. These capabilities are available as macros, which means they are content that represents data in your wiki.

To insert Markdown or Diagrams into your pages, simply use the appropriate macro and input your desired content. This will allow you to easily format your text and add visual aids to your content.

What is a template?

In addition to Markdown and Diagrams content (that is inserted into a Confluence page), our platform also offers the ability to create templates.

These templates can be stored either:

  • Globally, accessible by any Confluence user

  • In a specific Space, accessible to any Confluence user in the Space

Templates serve as the starting point for new pieces of content - by creating templates, you can help your team be more consistent in their content creation, implement best practices, and speed up their workflow. Templates are a great way to ensure that your team is following a standardized format and style for their content.

Conclusion

It's important to note the difference between content and templates. Content refers to the actual information and data that is being presented, while templates are used as a framework for organizing and presenting that content. Both are important aspects of creating high-quality and effective content on our platform.

We hope this article has helped you understand the capabilities available on our platform and how to use them effectively. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team for assistance.
