Managing diagram templates
Capable Diagrams allows you to create and manage reusable templates directly from the Template Library, making it easy to standardize diagrams across your organization. Templates can be stored at either the space or global level, ensuring the right level of access for your team’s needs.
Creating a Diagram Template
To create a new diagram template:
Navigate to the Template Library
For Space-Level Templates: Go to the designated space, open the Capable Diagram settings, and access the Space Template Library.
For Global Templates: Navigate to the Global Template Library in your Confluence administration settings.
Add a New Template
In the library, click Create New Template.Design the Template
Use the visual editor or code-based frameworks like Mermaid or PlantUML to design your diagram.
Add any placeholders or default elements that teams can customize when using the template.
Save the Template
Assign a Template Name that reflects its purpose.
Specify whether it should be a Space or Global template.
Publish the Template
Save the template, and it will now be available in the selected library.
Using a Diagram Template
To use an existing template:
Insert a Diagram
Add the Capable Diagrams macro to a Confluence page.Load a Template
In the diagram editor, click the Templates button and browse the available templates.Select either Space Templates (specific to the current space) or Global Templates (available across all spaces).
Customize
Load the template into the editor and make any necessary adjustments.Save and Publish
Save your changes and publish the customized diagram to the Confluence page.
Managing Template Libraries
Searching and Filtering
Use the Template Library to search for templates by name, tag, or keywords. You can filter results by scope (space or global) to find templates faster.
Editing Templates
To update an existing template:
Open the template from the Template Library.
Edit the diagram as needed.
Save your changes, either overwriting the template or creating a new version.
Deleting Templates
To delete a template:
Access the Template Library.
Locate the template you want to remove, click on it, then the '…' button in the top right and click Delete.
Note: Diagrams created using a template will not be affected by deleting the template.

Use Clear Naming Conventions: Consistent names help users quickly identify the right template.
