# How connecting to Smartsheet works

Sign-in opens a new top-level browser tab to Capable's own service, which forwards you to app.smartsheet.com to approve read and admin access to your sheets. The token is exchanged, refreshed, tested and revoked entirely on Capable's servers; it never reaches Confluence or your browser. You connect and disconnect from the app's own buttons.

## Worth knowing

* Not in the Capable Suite. Smartsheet is bought as a separate app.
* The macro contributes nothing to page exports.
* Pages carrying this macro that are published through Capable Sites have no static rendering for it.
* A Smartsheet admin can block publishing outright, or restrict published links to your organisation. The app names these cases rather than failing silently.
* The Interactive table only reaches readers without their own Smartsheet account once the author presses "Set up viewer access". Without it, a reader sees a Connect panel instead of the data. Which an anonymous visitor cannot complete.
* Disconnecting Smartsheet drops the sheet bindings you own, so Interactive tables that ran on your connection stop showing data.
