# Sign everyone out of a protected site To sign everyone out of a protected Confluence site, a Confluence admin opens the site's **Settings**, chooses **Access** and selects **Sign everyone out** under **Sessions**, then confirms. Every visitor's session ends at once, on the live site and on staging previews, and they must sign in again. Nothing else about the site changes, and no deploy is needed. --- ## Before you start * You need to be a Confluence admin. * The site must already be saved as Password, Atlassian, Google or Microsoft. A public site has no sessions to end. * You do not need this after changing access. Saving a new password, mode, domain list, organisation list or session length already signs everyone out. --- ## Steps 1. Open Capable, choose **Sites**, open your site, and select **Settings**, then the **Access** card. 2. Under **Sessions**, select **Sign everyone out**. 3. In **Sign everyone out?**, select **Sign everyone out** to confirm. --- ## What happens next You see **Everyone has been signed out. Visitors must sign in again.** The next page a visitor opens takes them to the sign-in page. If you see **Too many access changes in the last hour. Visitors were not signed out; try again later.**, you have hit the hourly limit on access changes, shared across all your sites. Wait and try again. --- ## Related ### [Access modes](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/access-modes.html) Sessions and what ends them. ### [Everyone was signed out of my protected site at once](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/everyone-was-signed-out-of-my-protected-site-at-once.html) When it happened and you did not do it. ### [Saving Access settings fails with a generic error](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/saving-access-settings-fails-with-a-generic-error.html) The hourly access-change limit. ### [Securing a published site](https://help.gocapable.com/sites/securing-a-published-site.html) More guides for protected sites. --- _One button, every session, straight away._
