# Promote fails with "Staging preview expired"

Promote fails with "Staging preview expired".

## Why it happens

Previews are only kept for 90 days, then deleted with no notice.

## What to do

Run Update to rebuild the preview, then Promote. Watch for the "Expires in Nd" warning that appears 14 days out.

The staging row records when the preview was generated, and Update replaces it with a fresh one before you promote.
