# Set a page status in Confluence

To set a page status in Confluence from Capable Search, select the page in your results to open the side panel. Under **Summary**, select the **Status** row and pick a status. Since 13 October 2026 this also works on pages with no status yet, where the row reads **No status**.

## Before you start

| **You need**                | **Why**                                                                                         |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Capable Search installed    | The app is part of Capable Search for Confluence and the Capable Suite.                         |
| Edit permission on the page | Without it the Status row is read only.                                                         |
| Page statuses in the space  | Confluence content statuses must be turned on, with at least one status, in the space settings. |

## Steps

1. Open Capable Search: select **Capable Search** in the space sidebar or the Apps menu (in the Suite, **Capable**, then **Search**).
2. Run a search that includes the page.
3. Select the page's row. The side panel opens on the right.
4. Under **Summary**, select the **Status** row. The menu is headed **Set status**, or **Change status** if the page already has one.
5. Pick a status. Each is marked **Custom** or **Space**.

## If it does not work

* **No content statuses available** means the space has no statuses to pick. A space admin can add them in the Confluence space settings.
* If the page has unpublished changes, the status is applied to the draft, as Confluence does.
