# Export Confluence search results to CSV To export Confluence search results to CSV, run a search in Capable Search, choose the columns you want, then select **Export** in the footer under the table. Capable Search fetches up to 5,000 results with those columns and downloads a CSV file you can open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. --- ## Before you start | **You need** | **Why** | | ------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Capable Search installed | The app is part of Capable Search for Confluence and the Capable Suite. | | A search with results | **Export** is greyed out while the table is empty or loading. | --- ## Steps 1. Open Capable Search: select **Capable Search** in the space sidebar or the Apps menu (in the Suite, **Capable**, then **Search**). 2. Open a saved search, or select **New search** and add filters. 3. Use **Select columns** to show exactly the columns you want in the file. 4. Select **Export** in the footer under the table. 5. Wait for **Export complete!** in the **Export Search Results** dialog. The file downloads on its own. 6. Select **Close**. --- ## If it does not work * Only the first 5,000 results are exported. Narrow the search and export in parts if you need more. * Some columns, such as State and Intel, export as empty cells. * A large export can pause with **Rate limited. Retrying in** a few seconds. Leave it running. * **Export** is not available in the search macros on a page. --- ## Related ### [Bulk changes and export](https://help.gocapable.com/search/bulk-changes-and-export.html) The full reference. ### [Add columns to Confluence search results](https://help.gocapable.com/search/add-columns-to-confluence-search-results.html) Choose what goes in the file. ### [Columns](https://help.gocapable.com/search/columns.html) What each column holds. --- _From search to spreadsheet in one click._
