# Stop a Confluence page from being published To stop a Confluence page from being published, add the label `capable_never_publish` to it. Any publish attempt, by hand, by approval or in a bulk run, is then refused and recorded as Failed with the reason **Publishing disabled by label**. Remove the label to allow publishing again. Nothing else needs to change. --- ## Before you start * You can edit the page, so you can add labels to it. --- ## Steps 1. Open the page that must never be published. 2. Open the page's labels and add `capable_never_publish`. 3. Optionally, try to publish it: the byline shows **Publish Failed** with **Publishing disabled by label**. --- ## What happens next The page stays in the source space only. It shows in the Failed list on the Publishing space page whenever a publish was attempted. A copy published before you added the label stays in the target space until you delete it there. --- ## Related ### [capable\_never\_publish label](https://help.gocapable.com/publishing/capable-never-publish-label.html) How the label works. ### [Restrict who can publish Confluence pages](https://help.gocapable.com/publishing/restrict-who-can-publish-confluence-pages.html) Limit people rather than pages. ### [Page statuses](https://help.gocapable.com/publishing/page-statuses.html) What Failed means. --- _Some pages stay at home._
