# Publishing overwrote the wrong page in the target space

**What you are seeing**

Publishing overwrote the wrong page in the target space.

## Why it happens

"Update existing pages by title" is on, and a different page in the target space happened to have the same title. It is updated, moved and re-linked, and any publish link it previously had is cleared.

## What to do

Turn "Update existing pages by title" off unless every title in the target space is unique and stable. Restore the overwritten page from its Confluence version history.
