# Change the target space for Confluence publishing To change the target space for Confluence publishing, open Publishing **Space settings**, choose the new space under **Target space** on the **Setup** tab, select **Save**, and confirm with **Save and disconnect**. Existing links are cleared in the background; pages already published stay in the old space. --- ## Before you start * You are a space administrator of the source space and of the new target space. * No other maintenance task is running in the space. --- ## Steps 1. Open the space and select **Capable Publishing** in the sidebar (in the Suite, **Capable**, then **Publishing**). Under Manage, select **Space settings**. 2. On the **Setup** tab, choose the new space under **Target space**. 3. Select **Save**. 4. In **Change target space?**, select **Save and disconnect**. 5. When the cleanup has finished, publish to the new space, for example with **Publish all** on the **Maintenance** tab. --- ## What happens next A cleanup runs in the background and clears the publish properties on the source pages and the old copies, so every page shows as Unpublished again. Nothing is deleted from the old target space; remove the old copies there by hand if you no longer need them. The cleanup appears in the Audit log. --- ## Related ### [Publishing settings](https://help.gocapable.com/publishing/publishing-settings.html) The Setup tab in detail. ### [Bulk publish Confluence pages](https://help.gocapable.com/publishing/bulk-publish-confluence-pages.html) Publish everything to the new target. ### [Cannot save my publishing settings, or bulk publish is greyed out, and I am told a maintenance task](https://help.gocapable.com/publishing/cannot-save-my-publishing-settings-or-bulk-publish-is-greyed-out-and-i-am-told-a-maintenance-task.html) If a cleanup is still running. --- _New home, clean start._
