# Plain-English load errors

Failures are shown as readable messages (password protected, not a valid PDF, not found, too large, host blocked the request, rate limited, permission denied) and most of them steer the author towards attaching the file to the page instead.

## Worth knowing

* Linked PDFs must be on public https. Plain http, IP addresses, intranet hosts, .local/.corp/.lan/.test style domains and anything under amazonaws.com will not load.
* If nothing can be resolved at site build time the published page shows a plain note that the PDF could not be exported.
