# Test a Confluence migration with a dry run To test a Confluence migration without changing anything, open the Migration tab in your Capable app, filter to one space, choose the app and macros, and press **Perform verification**. It reads every matching page and writes nothing. Read the failures, then pilot a real run on that one space before going wider. --- ## Before you start * You need to be a Confluence site administrator. * Keep the app you are moving away from installed. The migration reads its content. * Pick a space you know well, so you can judge the results. --- ## Steps 1. Open Confluence settings, find your Capable app and open the **Migration** tab. 2. On **Introduction**, read the acknowledgements and tick them. 3. On **Options**, leave the defaults unless you are moving off a standalone Capable app. 4. On **Select apps**, type a filter for one space, such as `space = ENG`, then tick the app you are moving away from. 5. On **Select macros**, tick the macros you want and read each expander. 6. Press **Perform verification**. 7. Read the results. **Macros failed** is the number that matters. --- ## What happens next If failures look explainable, run the same selection for real with **Start migration**, then press **Download log** before you go anywhere else. Verification uses a stand-in drawing for draw.io, so a clean dry run does not prove diagrams will migrate: the pilot run does. If every count is zero, your space filter was probably rejected; write it as `space = "KEY"` or `space in ("A","B")`. --- ## Related ### [Your first migration](https://help.gocapable.com/migration/your-first-migration.html) The first run, in full. ### [Reading the results](https://help.gocapable.com/migration/reading-the-results.html) What the numbers mean. ### [Using the migration assistant](https://help.gocapable.com/migration/using-the-migration-assistant.html) Every wizard step. ### [Running a pilot space](https://help.gocapable.com/migration/running-a-pilot-space.html) Pilot one space before the rest. --- _Verify first.
