3D viewer macro
The 3D Viewer macro lets you display interactive 3D models directly on a Confluence page. Instead of asking people to download a file and open specialist software, you can attach a model file - such as an STL - and let readers inspect it in the page.
#What it does
The macro renders supported 3D model attachments in an embedded viewer. Users can rotate, zoom, pan and re-centre the model, making it easier to understand a design, part or object without leaving Confluence.
It is especially useful for files such as .stl, .obj, .glb, .gltf, .ply, .3mf, .fbx and other supported model formats. Related files, such as materials or textures, can also be included where the model needs them.
#How to insert
#1. Type /3d and select the ‘3D Model’ macro
Choose the ‘3D Model’ macro from the list.

#2. Upload model file/s
Upload the model files and any required textures. They will be attached to the page.

#3. Configure options
You can customize a number of features of the 3D model:
Height
Background and Model Color
Projection, FOV, Lighting, Axis and Orbit
Starting Position
Auto-Rotate
Show Wireframe
Enable Model Download Button
Hide Controls

#Key options
Page editors can choose the model attachment and adjust the viewer to suit the content. Options include viewer height, background colour, model colour for files without materials, perspective or orthographic projection, lighting presets, initial camera angle, zoom level, edge display, auto-rotation and whether download is allowed.
#Things to know
Models are loaded from Confluence attachments, so access follows the page and attachment permissions.
The viewer supports common web-friendly 3D formats that do not require external decoders.
Very large models may not be suitable for in-page viewing; files are capped at 50 MB to keep the page stable and responsive.
For the best experience, use optimised models with sensible file sizes and include any required texture or material files as companion attachments.
