# Upload button is greyed out, or the library says 'You don't have permission to upload images to this

**What you are seeing**

The Upload button is greyed out, or the library says 'You don't have permission to upload images to this space' / 'to the global library'

## Why it happens

Uploading needs two separate Confluence permissions in that space: create-attachment AND create-page-or-blogpost. Having attachment rights alone is not enough. Folder create, rename and delete are gated on exactly the same check.

## What to do

Ask a space admin to grant both permissions. For global images, the permissions live on the CAPABLEASSETSTORE space.

## A few things that catch people out

* Nothing in the browser enforces a maximum upload size. An over-large file can be stored successfully yet later fail to load in the editor or through the chat tools, which cap at 3 MB and 5 MB respectively.
