# Page reference index

Every image an Image reference macro points at is recorded on the page under an 'Image References' field, exposed to CQL. That is what powers the 'Used on Pages' panel.

## Note

It is populated only from the stored image id on Image reference macros in the page, by page-change triggers that are filtered to licensed sites. In non-production environments those triggers are dropped entirely unless a licence override is set.

## Worth knowing

* In non-production environments, licensed-only triggers are dropped, so image reference indexing does not run at all unless the environment declares a licence override.
