# Turned "Show Border" off (or on) and the file looks exactly the same **What you are seeing** I turned "Show Border" off (or on) and the file looks exactly the same. --- ## Why it happens Show Border only affects the macro's non-content states. The unconfigured "Select File" invitation and the anonymous, not-connected and error cards. The setting only changes how the placeholder and error boxes look. --- ## A few things that catch people out * Re-picking a file silently resets Show Border and Show Line Numbers to true and drops Description, because the save routine rebuilds the whole configuration from scratch. --- ## Related [Re-picked the file through Browse GitHub and my Show Border / Show Line Numbers choices reset, and mSaving from the picker rebuilds the whole configuration from scratch with Show Border and ](https://help.gocapable.com/git/re-picked-the-file-through-browse-github-and-my-show-border-show-line-numbers-choices-reset-and-m.html) [Pasted a link with a line range like #L10-L20 but the whole file is shownThe line numbers are read out of the URL but there is nowhere to store them.
