# Disconnect GitHub from Confluence To disconnect GitHub from Confluence, remove the Capable app's access in your Atlassian account's **Connected apps** settings. The **Disconnect** button inside the GitHub picker does not unlink anything; it tells you to go there. When you unlink, Capable also asks GitHub to revoke its token, so the access ends on both sides. --- ## Before you start * Disconnecting affects only you. Other people's connections, and the macros on pages, stay as they are. * After you disconnect, private files show you a **Connect GitHub** card instead of their content. Public files still show. --- ## Steps 1. In Confluence, select your profile picture and open your Atlassian account settings. 2. Open **Connected apps**. 3. Find the Capable app that holds the GitHub connection and remove its access. 4. Reload any page with a Github file macro to confirm private files now ask you to connect. 📝 You can also revoke the app from GitHub itself, under your GitHub settings for authorised OAuth apps. Capable then finds the token no longer works and asks you to connect again next time. --- ## If it does not work * You selected **Disconnect** in **Manage Connections** and nothing changed: that is expected. See [Disconnect button does nothing](https://help.gocapable.com/git/disconnect-button-does-nothing.html). * You reconnected and the old account came back: GitHub authorises whichever account is signed in on github.com. Sign out there first. --- ## Related ### [Revocation](https://help.gocapable.com/git/revocation.html) What unlinking does at GitHub. ### [Connect your GitHub account to Confluence](https://help.gocapable.com/git/connect-your-github-account-to-confluence.html) Connect again later. ### [Disconnect button does nothing](https://help.gocapable.com/git/disconnect-button-does-nothing.html) Why the in-app button only points here. ### [Authentication model](https://help.gocapable.com/git/authentication-model.html) Per person, never shared. --- _Unlinked on both sides._
