# Field shows "An Advanced licence or Forms feature is required for this input type"

**What you are seeing**

A field shows "An Advanced licence or Forms feature is required for this input type" instead of the control - and its saved answer has vanished too.

## Why it happens

The site is on Standard, and this is a standalone Input macro set to an Advanced type. The gate replaces the entire control including the stored value.

## What to do

Upgrade to the Advanced edition, or change the field back to the single-line Text type. The answer is not lost - it is still stored on the page and reappears when the type is unlocked again.

## A few things that catch people out

* Only single-line Text works without the Advanced edition. Every other type is disabled in the Input type dropdown and badged "Advanced".
* Two fields on the same page that share a Field ID collapse into one entry in the indexed answers; the later silently overwrites the earlier.
* Changing a field's Input type wipes the stored answer and drops settings that do not apply to the new type.
