Using the Links Panel

Find relevant links within a document without needing to read through the entire page

Updated over a week ago

The Links Panel in Capable for Confluence is a powerful feature that helps users quickly find and navigate to relevant links within a document without needing to read through the entire content. This is particularly useful for large documents with numerous external references or internal links, making it easier to access specific resources directly:

  • Efficient Navigation: Quickly locate the links embedded within a page, saving time and effort in searching for specific resources.

  • Better Context: The Links Panel displays not just the URL, but also the page titles from the linked websites, providing immediate context about the link's destination.

  • Streamlined Workflow: Ideal for lengthy documents, research papers, or project plans where multiple references are provided, the Links Panel allows you to jump to relevant resources with a single click.

How It Works

When you open the Links Panel from the top of a page, you’ll see a list of all the links included in the document, as shown in the screenshot. The panel presents these links in a searchable format, displaying the title of the linked page along with its URL, making it easier to identify the right resource.

For example, if you’re working on a marketing strategy document and need to reference a specific fire-starting kit vendor, the Links Panel can show you all relevant external links in the document, such as links to fire-starting kits from different vendors. This feature is particularly useful in scenarios like:

  • Market Research: If you’ve linked to several competitor websites or research articles, the Links Panel allows you to quickly find and compare these resources without needing to manually search through the entire document.

  • Project Documentation: In project plans that include multiple external references, the Links Panel lets you jump directly to each resource, ensuring you don’t miss important information.

  • Educational Resources: For instructional guides or educational materials with numerous external links, the Links Panel offers a quick way to navigate between different learning resources.
