# Save a Confluence diagram as a template To save a Confluence diagram as a template, open the Capable Diagrams catalogue, find the diagram under **Diagrams on pages**, open it and select **Save as template**. A copy opens as a new template; adjust it and select **Save**. The original diagram on the page is not changed, and your team can start from the template from then on. --- ## Before you start * You can create content in the space where the template will live. * Tidy the diagram first, or plan to tidy the copy. Whatever is in the template is what everyone starts from. --- ## Steps 1. Open the Capable Diagrams catalogue for the space. 2. Under **Diagrams on pages**, open the diagram you want to reuse. 3. Select **Save as template**. In a narrow window it shows as an icon only. 4. A copy opens as a new template. Change its title and content as you like. 5. Select **Save**. --- ## What happens next * The template is listed under **Space templates**, and offered in the byline search and the insert picker in that space once it has been indexed, usually within a few minutes. * Diagrams made from it are copies. Changing the template later does not change them. ## If it does not work * No **Save as template** button: it only appears on diagrams that live on pages, opened from the catalogue, not on templates or in the full-screen view on a page. * The new template does not show in search straight away.
