# Open the Capable command palette in Confluence To open the Capable command palette in Confluence, press Command K on a Mac or Control K on Windows while you are in Capable, or use the Capable menu item. Type what you are looking for and pick a result: a capability, a macro, a diagram or image from the library, a template, or a help article. --- ## Before you start * The palette is part of Capable for Confluence, the suite. Standalone Capable apps do not have it. * It works inside Capable's own pages, such as the dashboard, rather than on an ordinary Confluence page. On a page, use the [Capable byline](https://help.gocapable.com/capable/the-capable-byline.html) instead. --- ## Steps 1. Open Capable, for example the Capable dashboard. 2. Press Command K, or Control K on Windows. 3. Type a name, such as a capability, macro, diagram or template. 4. Use the arrow keys or the mouse to pick a result. --- ## If it does not work * Nothing opens: click inside the Capable page first so it has focus, then press the shortcut again. * A capability is missing: an administrator may have hidden it, which removes it from the palette too. * A help article about installing is missing: help search deliberately leaves those out. Use the documentation directly. --- ## Related ### [The command palette](https://help.gocapable.com/capable/the-command-palette.html) What the palette searches. ### [Search for templates from the Confluence byline](https://help.gocapable.com/capable/search-for-templates-from-the-confluence-byline.html) The same search on a page. ### [The Capable dashboard](https://help.gocapable.com/capable/the-capable-dashboard.html) Where to start in Capable. --- _Command K.
