# Importing an .ics file An existing calendar file can be imported one-way into a saved calendar from the calendar catalogue. Events carrying a Confluence Jira-integration marker are skipped, events with no start date are skipped, titles shorter than 4 characters are skipped, and recurring events import as their first occurrence only. ![The Import from iCal dialog with a dashed drop zone reading Drop an .ics file here or click to browse, and a note below it about recurring events and Jira integration events.](https://help.gocapable.com/images/fb49b424-9edd-4373-a3a4-169d3bf6edaf.webp) The drop zone takes one .ics file and states up front that recurring events arrive as single occurrences and Jira integration events are skipped. ![A calendar overflow menu open over an April month grid, showing display mode options and an Actions group beginning with Import from iCal, followed by Export as iCal, Export as CSV and Refresh.](https://help.gocapable.com/images/55b4ead9-cbbe-409e-a11f-4b6bb11c85a0.webp) Import from iCal is the first entry under Actions in the same overflow menu that carries the export options. --- ## Related [Personal iCal subscriptionAnother part of how this works.](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/personal-ical-subscription.html) [iCal feed contentAnother part of how this works.](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/ical-feed-content.html) [How it worksThe rest.](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/how-it-works.html) --- _How it actually behaves._
