# Create a team leave and holiday calendar in Confluence To create a team leave and holiday calendar in Confluence, create a saved calendar called Team leave, add tags such as Annual leave and Public holiday, and add each absence as an all-day event with the person on the **Users** tab. Import public holidays from an .ics file, then show the calendar on your team page. --- ## Before you start * You need permission to create content in the space. * Capable Calendar has no leave approvals, balances or reminders. It shows who is away; your HR system stays the record. --- ## Steps 1. Open **Capable Calendar** from the space sidebar or the **Apps** menu. In the suite, open Capable and choose Calendar. Under **Space calendars**, choose **Create calendar**, name it, for example Team leave, and save. 2. Open the calendar and select **Configure calendar** (the cog) at the top right. You see it only if you can edit the calendar. On the **Tags** tab, add **New Tag** entries such as Annual leave and Public holiday, each with its own colour, then select **Save**. 3. Drag across the days someone is away. Name the event, for example Sam on leave, turn on **All day**, add the person on the **Users** tab and the tag on the **Tags** tab, then select **Create Event**. 4. Download your region's public holidays as an .ics file, then choose **Import from iCal** in the calendar's menu (the three dots) and drop the file in. Check the preview, then select the **Import** button, which shows how many events will come in. 5. Insert **Calendar (Capable)** on the page, set **Source** to the calendar and turn on **Event editing** so people can add their own leave. --- ## A few things that catch people out * Holidays that repeat every year come in as their first occurrence only, because Capable has no repeating events. Import a file that lists each year's dates, and check the import preview for recurring warnings. * Everyone with edit rights in the space can add and change leave. Keep the calendar in a space whose permissions suit that. * People can follow the calendar in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook with [a personal subscription](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/subscribe-to-a-confluence-calendar-in-google-calendar-or-outlook.html). Changes usually arrive there within 5 to 15 minutes. --- ## Related ### [Create a shared team calendar in Confluence](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/create-a-shared-team-calendar-in-confluence.html) The basics of a saved calendar. ### [Import an .ics file into a Confluence calendar](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/import-an-ics-file-into-a-confluence-calendar.html) Bring in holidays from a file. ### [Colour-code events on a Confluence calendar](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/colour-code-events-on-a-confluence-calendar.html) Give leave types their own colour. ### [Calendar settings](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/calendar-settings.html) Tags and defaults for a calendar. --- _Know who is out before you book the meeting._
