# Cannot create or edit events in a shared calendar **What you are seeing** I cannot create or edit events in a shared calendar. --- ## Why it happens Permission comes from Confluence content permissions on the calendar itself, re-checked on every request. Built-in calendars (Recently viewed pages, Mentions) are read-only by construction. --- ## What to do Ask a space administrator for edit rights on the space or page where the calendar lives. On a macro, also check that "Event editing" is turned on. --- ## Settings involved | **Setting** | **Where** | **What it does** | | ------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Calendar (global settings tab) | Confluence settings → Capable → Calendar | Card title "Calendar subscriptions", description "Personal iCal feed links your users have generated for calendars." Lists user, calendar, status and created date, paged with Previous/Next. Non-administrators see "Conflu | | Calendar Name | Calendar page → open a calendar → Configuration panel | The calendar's title. Two calendars in the same container cannot share a title. | | Base Timezone | Calendar Configuration panel | "Set the timezone by which events are co-ordinated. Note that events are shown in the timezone of the user viewing the calendar." In practice it pre-fills the event create/edit form only. The grid always draws events in | --- ## Limits that apply here | **Limit** | **Value** | **What happens** | | --------------------------- | --------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | iCal feed window | \- | Events outside this rolling window never reach a subscriber's calendar app, even though they render fine inside Confluence. | | iCal feed size | \- | Beyond the cap, events are silently omitted from the feed. | | Static site calendar export | \- | Beyond that the exported page prints "Only the first 500 events are included on static sites." | --- ## Related [Unlicensed or signed-out visitor lands on the Calendar page and sees a notice instead of the productThe space and global Calendar pages deliberately render a static visitor notice for unlice](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/unlicensed-or-signed-out-visitor-lands-on-the-calendar-page-and-sees-a-notice-instead-of-the-product.html) [Revoked link cannot be un-revokedRevocation is permanent by design.
