# Calendar settings Calendar is configured from the shared Capable settings surfaces rather than a tab of its own in every case. This is the complete list. ![Top right corner of a calendar showing the overflow and gear buttons, with a tooltip reading Configure calendar.](https://help.gocapable.com/images/6aa70e6b-9236-407a-9631-dffcbb823ba3.webp) The gear beside the overflow menu opens the settings for whichever calendar is on screen. --- ## Every setting ![Appearance tab of the calendar configuration dialog, with toggles for Show users and Page titles and a Color Scheme set to By User.](https://help.gocapable.com/images/d037e8d5-c374-49ac-8d55-adc3dad90a16.webp) Appearance decides whether avatars and page titles ride along on each card, and what the colours are keyed to. | **Setting** | **Level** | **What it does** | | -------------------------------------- | -------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Calendar subscriptions | Site-wide | "Let users subscribe to Capable calendars from Google, Apple, or Outlook via a personal iCal feed. The standalone Capable Calendar app has no Capabilities tab, even though its byline still reads the same setting. | | Indexing tab | Site-wide | Where an administrator triggers or inspects content indexing. Indexing itself runs in both products; only the admin tab differs. | | Calendar Name | Per calendar | The calendar's title. Two calendars in the same container cannot share a title. | | Description | Per calendar | Descriptive text shown with the calendar. | | Calendar View | Per calendar | The view the calendar opens in. | | Base Timezone | Per calendar | "Set the timezone by which events are co-ordinated. Note that events are shown in the timezone of the user viewing the calendar." In practice it pre-fills the event create/edit form only. The grid always draws events in | | In-calendar Events | Per calendar | "Show in-calendar user made events". The events people create and save inside this calendar. | | Native page dates | Per calendar | "Show events from date macros on pages". Confluence's own date chips scraped off the calendar's source pages. | | Capable Events | Per calendar | "Show events from event macros on pages". Capable Event macro instances on the calendar's source pages. | | Recently viewed | Per calendar | "Get events from recently viewed pages". The 25 most recently viewed pages. Filters and limit are disabled until the toggle is on. | | Result Limit | Per calendar | How many pages the search source returns and therefore scans for dates. | | Start on | Per calendar and per macro | Which period the calendar opens on. My Calendar and the homepage widget never jump, regardless of this setting. | | Start date | Per calendar and per macro | Only read when Start on is Custom. | | Always show all events | Per calendar | Shows every event on a busy day instead of collapsing extras into a "+N more" popover. | | Hide weekends | Per calendar | Removes Saturday and Sunday columns from week and month views. | | Week start day | Per calendar | First column of week and month grids. Cannot be set on the macro. Only on a saved calendar. | | Show users | Per calendar | Whether participant avatars appear on event cards. | | Page titles | Per calendar | Whether the source page's title is shown on event cards. This option exists only on saved calendars, not on the macro. | | Color Scheme | Per calendar | How events are colour-coded. "By Page" is selectable here but not on the Calendar macro. | | Tags | Per calendar | A matching tag's colour overrides the calendar's colour scheme for that event. Tags also become the categories in an iCal feed. | | My Calendar sources | Per user | Builds a private overlay view. Saving more than 5 sources is rejected. | --- ## A few things worth knowing * Settings changes can take a minute to reach other people. * Hiding a capability removes it from the navigation; macros already on pages keep rendering. * Some settings are per space and need only a space administrator. --- ## Related [ReferenceLimits and gaps.](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/reference.html) [Capable for ConfluenceSuite-level settings.](https://staging.dev.capable-sites.com/wiki/pages/1412890864) --- _The complete list, in one table._
