# Add an event to a Confluence calendar To add an event to a Confluence calendar, open a saved calendar in **Capable Calendar** and click the day, or drag across the days or hours it covers. The **Create Event** form opens. Enter a name, set the dates and times, add people, links and tags if you want them, then select **Create Event**. --- ## Before you start * You need edit rights on the calendar, which follow the space it is saved in. Built-in calendars, such as Recently viewed pages, are read-only. * You need a saved calendar. If you do not have one yet, see [Create a shared team calendar in Confluence](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/create-a-shared-team-calendar-in-confluence.html). * To add events from a page instead, the **Calendar (Capable)** macro needs a saved calendar as its **Source** and **Event editing** turned on. --- ## Steps 1. Open **Capable Calendar** from the space sidebar or the **Apps** menu. In the suite, open Capable and choose Calendar. Then choose the calendar under **Space calendars** or **Global calendars**. 2. Click the day the event happens on. For an event that spans several days or set hours, drag across them in Month, Week or Day view. You can also select **Create event** (the plus) at the top left. 3. Enter a name between 4 and 100 characters. Optionally set a **Priority**, a short **Description** and a **Color**. 4. Check the start and end, turn on **All day** for a whole-day event, and change the time zone if the event is tied to another place. 5. Use the tabs under the dates: **Details** for longer notes, **Users** for the people involved, **Links** for related Confluence pages and **Tags** for the calendar's tags. 6. Select **Create Event**. --- ## What happens next The event appears on the calendar straight away for everyone who can see it, and on every page that shows this calendar. People who subscribe to the calendar in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook usually see it within 5 to 15 minutes. 📝 There are no repeating events. For a weekly meeting, add one event per occurrence. --- ## If it does not work * **Clicking a day does not open the form.** You do not have edit rights on the calendar, and a message says so, or the macro on the page has **Event editing** off. See [Cannot create or edit events in a shared calendar](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/cannot-create-or-edit-events-in-a-shared-calendar.html). * **The event will not save.** Check the name is at least 4 characters long. --- ## Related ### [Saved event editor](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/saved-event-editor.html) Every field in the event form. ### [Who can create and edit events](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/who-can-create-and-edit-events.html) Who can add and change events. ### [Create a shared team calendar in Confluence](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/create-a-shared-team-calendar-in-confluence.html) Start a calendar your team shares. ### [Managing events on Confluence calendars](https://help.gocapable.com/calendar/managing-events-on-confluence-calendars.html) More guides for events. --- _Click a day, fill in the name, done._
