# Set up Microsoft Teams notifications for Confluence approvals 📝 Microsoft Teams support is coming soon. To send Confluence approval requests to Microsoft Teams, a Confluence site administrator who is also a Microsoft 365 Global or Teams Administrator turns on the connect switch on the **Microsoft Teams** card, on the **Notifications** tab of Capable's **Global settings**. Approvers are then messaged in Teams automatically. Nobody installs anything by hand. --- ## Before you start | **You need** | **Why** | | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | A Confluence site administrator | Global settings is for site administrators only. | | A Microsoft 365 Global Administrator or Teams Administrator | Microsoft asks for consent once, for your whole organisation. If that is a different person, sit together for this. | | A work or school Microsoft account | Personal Microsoft accounts cannot be linked. | | Approvers whose Confluence and Microsoft 365 email addresses match | Capable finds each approver in Microsoft 365 by their Confluence email. | --- ## Steps 1. Open **Global settings**. Site administrators find it under **Manage** in the Approval sidebar, or in Confluence administration. 2. Select the **Notifications** tab. 3. On the **Microsoft Teams** card, turn on the connect switch. 4. Accept Microsoft's consent screen for your organisation, then sign in with your administrator account. 5. Back in Confluence, check the card shows **Connected** and your organisation's name. 6. To let people answer from Teams, turn on **Microsoft Teams approval actions** on the same card. --- ## What happens next The next time somebody is asked to approve a page, Capable looks them up in Microsoft 365, adds the Capable app for them and sends the message. It usually arrives within a minute. Without approval actions, the message has a **View page** button and people answer in Confluence. 📝 Connected Microsoft Teams before 21 October 2026? Turn the connect switch off, then on again. Earlier connections did not ask for the permissions Capable now uses to reach approvers on its own. --- ## If it does not work * **We could not confirm this account is a Microsoft 365 Global or Teams Administrator**: sign in with an account that holds one of those roles. * **Personal Microsoft accounts cannot be linked**: use a work or school account. * **This sign-in has expired or was already used**: start again from Confluence and finish in the same browser. * Messages not arriving for one person: see [Fix Microsoft Teams approval messages not arriving](https://help.gocapable.com/approval/fix-microsoft-teams-approval-messages-not-arriving.html). --- ## Related ### [Microsoft Teams](https://help.gocapable.com/approval/microsoft-teams.html) Everything about Teams messages and buttons. ### [Respond to Confluence approvals from Microsoft Teams](https://help.gocapable.com/approval/respond-to-confluence-approvals-from-microsoft-teams.html) What approvers see and do. ### [Fix Microsoft Teams approval messages not arriving](https://help.gocapable.com/approval/fix-microsoft-teams-approval-messages-not-arriving.html) Checks to run when nothing arrives. ### [Notifications](https://help.gocapable.com/approval/notifications.html) Who hears about what, on every channel. ### [Setting up approval notifications](https://help.gocapable.com/approval/setting-up-approval-notifications.html) All notification how-to guides. --- _Requests now land in the chat your team already has open._
