# Route Confluence approvals to different reviewers by label

To send Confluence pages to different reviewers by label, open the **Automation** tab in **Space Approval Settings**, turn on **Page creation** or **Page update** under **Route approvals by page label**, and add label mappings that pair each label with an approval team. The first matching rule in the list wins.

## Before you start

| Space administrator permission                  | Label routing is a space setting.         |
| At least one approval team enabled in the space | Mappings can only point at enabled teams. |

## Steps

1. In the space, open **Space settings**, then **Capable** (**Capable Approval** if you use the standalone app), to reach **Space Approval Settings**.
2. On the **Teams** tab, enable each team you want to route to.
3. On the **Automation** tab, under **Route approvals by page label**, turn on **Page creation**, **Page update** or both.
4. Select **Add label mapping**, then pick a label and the team that reviews it. Repeat for each label.
5. Optionally, choose a **Default team** for pages with no matching label.
6. Save your changes.

## Good to know

* The first matching rule in the list wins, so check the order when a page could carry more than one label.
* Labels are read when the approval is raised. Adding a label later does not move an existing request to another team.
* Example: pages labelled `security` go to the security reviewers, pages labelled `hr` go to HR.
